Bubinga Inlay Jewelry Box Details

This picture shows the necklace box open, and the earring tray removed so you can see it better. The tray allows about 30 pairs of earrings to hang, both studded ones in the two rows of slots, and hook style in front through the holes. There is a two slot ring pad on the right, and flat storage on black velveteen in back on the left, with a handle in the middle for lifting the tray. It can sit either low to the rear, or higher in front, allowing full access to the divided space beneath without interfering with the necklace box or solid brass hooks.

The version without drawers is identical, except for the lack of drawers, and it is about 6" tall, though the area beneath the tray is slightly taller than the version with drawers. See photo below. Bubinga Box without drawer - $750.00 Buy in stock

The drawers are graduated in depth, with the deeper bottom drawer containing a two slot ring pad on the right. This drawer is deep enough to house a very large ring. The drawer fronts are dovetailed into the red loro drawer sides - a beautiful detail when the drawers are opened. They are precision fitted on wooden glides, and are equipped with spring loaded stops that prevent accidental removal of the drawer, but allow its removal with a swift tug. All drawer and box bottom dividers fit into routed slots, so they won't end up becoming loose annoyances. The drawer pulls are sculpted from ebony, tapered to the rear for a positive grip, and polished to a sensuous shine. The box is finished with several coats of handrubbed tung oil and varnish, a finish that will develop a beautiful patina from years of handling, and can be easily touched up by the owner if it is accidentally damaged or scufed.
